Purpose and History of NZPBC
Purpose
The purpose of the New Zealand Picture Book Collection is to provide a set of quality New Zealand picture books reflecting diversity in New Zealand society which can be used in New Zealand classrooms with specially designed, curriculum-linked classroom activities. It is based on the concept of the European Picture Book Collection, developed by Dr. Penni Cotton of the NCRCL, Roehampton University, London, UK.
History
The New Zealand Picture Book Collection was developed in 2010 in consultation with a group of six children’s literature experts. It is expected that the collection will be updated every 5 years.
